In August 2015 we met the fleeing people in Greece during our holidays. We acted, returned and rented a small apartment with kitchen in Athens to cook for the fleeing people.

Beginning October 2015 we helped the fleeing people that landed in a dystopian environment on the island of Lesvos. In October alone, 130,000 people arrived on the island.

As of March 2016, we have been working in Idomeni, in front of the closed border, to protect the human dignity of the fleeing people.

From May 2016 to March 2017, schwizerchrüz.ch worked in two military camps in Thessaloniki with more than 1200 refugees to train the children, to encourage the adults and to survive the winter.

In February 2017, we founded the Community Center One Happy Family on Lesbos and made it available to the Burgdorf association ohf-lesvos.org from April to February 2018. Since then, the center has been independent and has become a hub for numerous offers for refugees. From November 2017 to March 2018, we ran the Little Happy Family Community Center, which provided neonatal washing facilities during the winter.

Since February 2019 we are on Samos with our new Baobab Community Center for the refugees. It is open to families with children up to 12 years old. The families can eat, the women can take a shower and there are play areas for the children. schwizerchrüz.ch also operates a help desk in the hospital of Samos, which translates for the refugees and arranges the treatments for them.
